An Australian fashion label founded in 2000 and run by two surfers Dan Single and George Gorrow. Tsubi began with the pair finding a gap in the market, in particular with the inability for the existing jeans to fulfill a basic function, comfort and a good fit. In developing the street brand they were able to produce a range of jeans which became cult classics due to their superior comfort, ensuring that the jeans only got more comfortable with age. Despite their success, a court case accused the brand of trademark
infringement, as a brand labeled Tsubi registered the name previous to Tsubi.
The result of this is the creation of Tsubi for an international market, with
the ability for the brand to be labeled Tsubi in The immediate appeal of the brand stemmed from the fact it was innovative and explored several ideologies of street culture, and the underground. It dispelled the need to conform to social and fashion trends and remains true to the original belief system. They are described as fresh and artistic, and are constantly reviewing previous designs in their environment for example at a club; this market research allows the brand to understand the market they are made for. |
